Who we are, what we're doing, and how you can help.

We are a group of parents of schoolchildren in Gurgaon who came together to address the persistent, annual recurrence of severe waterlogging in Gurgaon during the monsoon season that makes the city's roads a life risk.

This year, on August 24th, rains caused havoc with the Gurgaon drainage system that led to many schoolchildren stranded on buses for as much as 5 hours. It wasn't just a problem of poor drainage but a failure of the city authorities to take emergency action commensurate with the situation. Hence, we came together to address it in a systematic and rational way by working with the government.

We have spoken with the District Commissioner's office, Municipal Corporation of Gurugram's (MCG) office and Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) office to address this problem and show us the results. We are asking for action in both the immediate term (4 weeks) and long term.

For the immediate term, we have asked the authorities to show us tangible infrastructure work on 5 major waterlogging hotspot areas in Gurgaon, also demonstrating inter-departmental convergence. These 5 hotspots are:

  1. Subhash Chowk
  2. Sohna Road (Airia Mall to Subhash Chowk)
  3. Vikas Marg / Satpaul Mittal Marg (Mayfield Garden)
  4. Sheetla Mata Mandir Marg
  5. Dhanwapur Road

In order to observe tangible results and work closely with the authorities to establish an ongoing, scalable model, we focused on these 5 areas. We understand that multiple govt. agencies are involved in maintaining the city, and we want to make sure that we contribute as citizens to streamline their actions so that we have a livable city.

We seek citizen help in documenting existing issues as well as status of work done in these 5 hotspots in the coming days. You can do that by going to the Citizen Watch page and submitting your photo/video evidence for us to send to the authorities.

You can upload photos highlighting issues from ANYWHERE in Gurgaon. While we will send all concerns to the authorities, our focus will be on the 5 hotspot areas for the immediate term. The government is still responsible for addressing concerns across the entirety of Gurgaon.
